2024-25

QUANTUM QUOTIENT 2.0

Held online on February 20, 2024, by BVP-OPTICA, Quantum Quotient 2.0 featured a single round of 30 thought-provoking questions, each requiring precise single-word answers. The event attracted over 250 participants, including students and professionals, who showcased their knowledge on topics like quantum mechanics, particle physics, and quantum computing.


VISIT TO CENTRE OF AI, IIITD

On November 29, 2024, BVP Optica organized a visit to the Center for Artificial Intelligence at IIIT Delhi. The visit offered a deep dive into the latest AI research and its industry applications. Participants engaged with experts, gaining valuable insights into machine learning, AI technologies, and their transformative impact on the future of innovation.


ROBOLEAGUE

Roboleague, held on October 18, 2024, brought together 10 teams to showcase their innovative robot designs in a thrilling soccer competition. Fostering skills in engineering, coding, and problem-solving, the event promoted STEM education and teamwork, offering a creative platform for friendly competition and collaboration.


CASE-O-CRAZE

The Case-O-Craze event, held on October 11, 2024, gathered 13 teams to explore sustainable energy solutions for a better future. Focusing on renewable energy challenges, the competition inspired critical thinking and creative problem-solving. BVP Optica empowered youth to take the lead in promoting green energy and environmental responsibility.

2023-24

SCHOOL VISIT

Organised by BVP-OPTICA, this community visit aimed to foster an inclusive learning environment by introducing fundamental science concepts to underprivileged students at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya RK Puram. Through interactive sessions and engaging demonstrations, the event sought to spark curiosity and bridge educational disparities by providing experiential learning opportunities. 

VISIT TO NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE

Nine of our eager members recently explored the National Science Centre at Pragati Maidan, diving into a world of interactive exhibits and educational demonstrations. This event offered a unique platform to engage with hands-on experiences, enhancing their understanding of optics and various scientific concepts. From physics and biology to technology and astronomy, the visit sparked curiosity and deepened their knowledge, making science both fun and inspiring.  

ORIENTATION SESSION

This engaging event introduced students to the essence of BVP-OPTICA, providing insights into upcoming events and showcasing an enlightening documentary. The session successfully fostered a sense of belonging and enthusiasm within the community, offering a holistic learning experience. Attendees gained unique insights, along with networking opportunities. The event set the stage for a well-rounded skill development journey, preparing participants for an enriching experience within the Optica community.  

SEMINAR - AI AND  ML

Organised by BVP-OPTICA and featuring guest speaker Mr. Shivay Lamba, an expert in software development and GSOC mentor, the session offered a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. Mr. Lamba emphasised the importance of a solid foundation in mathematics and statistics for pursuing AI and ML careers. The event included a live demonstration of creating an image-detecting AI algorithm, combining theoretical insights with practical skills. Attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of AI’s impact on major tech companies and hands-on experience in developing ML applications. 

WEBNAR - HOW TO CRACK MAANG

Hosted by BVP-OPTICA with guest speaker Mr. Ashutosh Singhal, a Software Engineer at Google, the session offered invaluable guidance. Mr. Singhal shared his inspiring journey from an electronics and communication student to a web developer at Google. This event provided a roadmap for aspiring professionals aiming to enter leading tech companies like Meta, Apple, 

QUANTUM QUOTIENT

The competition attracted over 200 participants, including students and professionals, who demonstrated their expertise in topics such as light wave behaviour, optical material properties, and photonics applications. 

AGNI-PATH

Agnipath pushed the limits of robotics with autonomous robots racing through three levels of obstacles, requiring precision and strategic thinking.The event featured three challenging tracks that tested the agility and speed of autonomous robots from various colleges. The competition highlighted innovation, engineering skills, and programming prowess. With intricate courses and a lively atmosphere, the event showcased each team's unique design and strategies. 

AAVISHKARAN

PRISMATIC PIONEERS

Prismatic Pioneers is a quiz designed to test knowledge and understanding of light, its properties, and interactions with matter. It explores various aspects of optics and photonics, including the dual nature of light and optical phenomena. The quiz challenged 243 undergraduate students with questions on light and fundamental physics. The event engaged participants with topics related to light’s behaviour and its role in understanding the universe. 

SPECTRO SNAP

Spectro Snap, part of BVP-OPTICA's Optical Invasion, was an online photography competition held from May 1, 2024. It invited 54 participants to showcase their creativity and photographic skills using techniques such as long exposure, light painting, and multiple exposure. Participants submitted their photos via Unstop. The competition provided a platform for both seasoned photographers and novices to display their talent. 

OPTICAL INVADERS

Optical Invaders, an Ideathon hosted by BVP-OPTICA as part of Optical Invasion, aimed to merge innovation with optics and photonics, inviting visionaries to explore light-based technologies. The Ideathon challenged 54 undergraduate students from various institutions to innovate within the theme "Illuminated AI". Teams of 2-4 members were encouraged to use AI/ML techniques to enhance optical applications in sectors like astronomy, healthcare, and more. 

2022-23

CONFLUENCE 3.0

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), in collaboration with the BVP Optica Student Chapter, recently hosted the highly anticipated CONFLUENCE 3.0: Spectrum Slam. This year's theme, “Collaborative Solutions for a Sustainable Future,” resonated with India's leadership of the Group of 20 (G20). The event kicked off with a webinar on Ideation and Conception, drawing strong participation from students eager to engage with forward-thinking ideas. BVP Optica played a central role in bringing this initiative to life, fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration among the next generation of engineers.

REASON & RHETORIC

BVP Optica recently hosted the Reason & Rhetoric Debate, a dynamic event that brought together thinkers and enthusiasts to delve into the intricate world of Artificial Intelligence. This engaging competition provided a platform to explore AI's potential to revolutionize industries, while critically examining its ethical considerations and the impact on the job market. 

CIRCUIT CLASH

BVP Optica hosted CircuitClash, a dynamic event that offered students practical experience in designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) and the chance to secure a coveted internship in the electronics industry. The event unfolded in two phases. It began with an online introductory workshop where students learned the basics of PCB design using the open-source software KiCAD. This was followed by an on-campus competition, where participants showcased their skills by designing and prototyping a PCB based on a given theme. 

BLACK BOX

The BlackBox Quiz Competition, organised by BVP Optica, was hosted on UnStop, a leading platform for competitive events. Designed for Science and Technology enthusiasts, the quiz challenged participants to showcase their knowledge and speed. The event attracted a large number of ambitious students, all eager to prove their proficiency. The strong participation and enthusiastic feedback demonstrated the event's success in delivering an engaging and challenging experience for everyone involved. 

STARTUP WEBINAR

On October 1st, BVP Optica hosted a highly informative webinar on planning for a start-up and securing VC funding. Led by industry expert Mr. Goyaam Jain, the session provided essential guidance on launching new ventures. The event was highly interactive, with Mr. Jain addressing various queries from participants, making it a deeply engaging and informative experience.

CAPTURE YOUR CAMPUS

Capture Your Campus, a photography competition hosted by BVP Optica in collaboration with the Digital Arts Society, encouraged freshmen to explore their inner photographers. Guided by talented seniors, students showcased their unique perspectives of the campus, focusing on the creative use of lighting and artistic expression. The event attracted a wide audience, with enticing prizes such as a 6-month Spotify Premium subscription for the winner and graphic tees for the runner-up. Participants also enjoyed refreshing goodies and exclusive merchandise, making the event both exciting and rewarding.
